Scheduling shoots with people I’ve never met in person is nothing new for me. Usually we’ve exchanged Instagram DMs. Maybe an email or two. With Renee, I’d actually spent some time with her on the phone. But nothing prepared me for meeting her in person.
Renee is as beautiful and striking in person as she is in photographs and, honestly, it was a bit intimidating at first. She is not only tall with a sheet of blonde hair and super blue eyes, but she is also the kindest and bubbliest person you could ever hope to meet. (And hope to work with!)
We ‘met’ (aka started following each other on Instagram) from a group goal setting call with SHexShines and we just started commenting back and forth from there. (Shoutout to ShexShines founders Alex and Anna Laura!) While makeup obviously plays a part in photography, it isn’t something that I’ve ever felt confident talking about or advising my clients on. Usually I encourage them to go for whatever ‘natural’ means for them and whatever makes them feel great. Other than that, I’m pretty much useless.
Aside from being a beauty expert and consultant, Renee also made sense for a collab because we truly align on our value and our outlook. I trust that she treats her clients with the same respect, honesty, and enthusiasm that I do and that isn’t always easy to find. Obviously her post on makeup is required reading, but there were too many good pictures that I couldn’t help but also write my own blog post to show them off.
