“If I’d known that getting our picture taken just meant I’d get to do this all day,” Eric grinned as he slipped his arm around Gina’s waist. “I definitely would’ve done this sooner.”
Every partnership that I photograph has a unique dynamic and expresses their love in different ways. Some are full of jokes and teasing. Others are quieter and the silence says more than any of their words. Some show it in the easy and simple way they act around each other. With Gina and Eric, I felt like I had been dropped in the end of a romantic comedy.
I especially felt it each time I asked Eric to pull Gina in close or kiss her. (I know, I ask people regularly to kiss on command. It is a weird job.) He never hesitated to mention to me how great he thought she looked or how much he doesn’t mind snuggling up with her. A hype man in shining armor.
Yet, Gina and Eric’s warmth and excitement wasn’t just contained to each other. They also brought me in and made me feel like I was just casually out with friends, even though the three of us had never hung out before.
Gina and Eric, thank you for instantly accepting me into your fun and kind orbit. With big smiles and an easy-going sensibility, I truly felt like I was just hanging out with some friends. (And hope that you’ll let me third wheel with you again the future, sans-camera!) Most of all, thank you for letting me help celebrate and document the first four years of your love story.
